Absolutely awful!

There were many warning signs such as the neon signs, huge menu, and faded photos in the window but we figured we would give this restaurant a try.

The interior was pretty typical of most Chinese restaurants in Manchester: faded and worn carpets and table cloths, rather poor layout with too many tables, and no atmosphere to speak of.

We were shown to our table and, before we had time to sit down or take our coats off, the waiter asked us what we would like to drink. We ordered some tea. We then spent a while choosing some dishes from the menu. The waiter took our order but came back 15-20 minutes later to tell us that they didn't have that dish. Neither did they have our second or third choice. After choosing something that was available we waited another 10-15 minutes for the food to arrive.

We had ordered stir-fried noodles with pork and green beans, beef egg tomato and green pea soup, Szechuan style sea food casserole, and another chicken dish which turned out to be boiled chicken with a sweet sauce.

The noodles were very cheap quality (the kind you might find in some cheap instant noodles) and were tasteless. The pork also did not have much taste to it and was very poor quality meat. The boiled chicken was cold on arrival. The sea food casserole really tasted odd (devoid of any identifiable flavour) and mostly consisted of cheap vermicelli noodles with some frozen sea food mixed in. The soup was very salty but perhaps the most edible of all the dishes. At one point the waitress came to pour our tea and managed to poor tea all over the table cloth and the boiled chicken. She didn't seem to notice.

After receiving the bill I informed the staff that I would not pay the full price as the food was so bad. After being told the food was fine and that it must have been my mistake ordering the wrong dishes I was given a discount of around ten pounds. In hindsight I should not have paid anything.

Very poor.

Shocking - How can such a poor Chinese survive in somewhere as competitive as Manchester's Chinatown?

Whole place needs a serious facelift but you could put up with that if the food and service were good but they aren't.

As a party of six we toyed with the idea of going for a banquet but decided to stick with separate meals. Food came at different times, was plonked on table rather than in front of the right person, some had almost finished before others had started.

Food was bland at best

Only bit of efficient service was in pouring out wine and prompting if we wanted another bottle.

Had it not been for the fact that one of our party had recommended this place and i didn't want to embarass him I would have complained-about everything.

First poor chinese I have had in this area -stick with where I know in future

What is going on here? When we used to live in Manchester this was our favorite

Chinese restaurant and it was streets ahead of Yang Sing. Being in the town, we decided to drop by and it soon become apparent that we were wasting out time and money. There is obviously something afoot when you walk into a restaurant that has thread bare and filthy carpets and the quality of the food has dropped to the level of a back street take away. As we could not recognize any of the staff, we could only assume that the original owners have sold up and in this circumstance being "under new management" can only mean things have gone downhill.

The service was simply atrocious, the food mediocre and the staff disinterested to the point of rudeness. Waited over an hour for a main course. Food mediocre.

The food are delicious.

But I would never go to that restaurant again due to his poor services.

Not great the food was nice but the service terrible. Had to wait 20 minutes to be asked if we would like drinks, meals came out individually instead of at the same time. Maybe we just got them on a bad night!
