Closed in March 2010. What a pity - it was really good.

Compelled after a trip to Manchester to get off my chest the robbery that takes place in this restaurant. 5 of us went in and came out £109 lighter and still very hungry - staff dont give a monkeys its just a joke - it beggars belief - im a chef myself and although a specialist in french cookery could show these guys a thing or two. Food was bland and hardly there - had it been very good or even plentiful I would be happy enough ... it smacks of arrogrance that this place believe that a few bland morsels have the value they set. 'Gourmet banquet' stirs the imagination with a bountiful and varied selection of Indian cuisine - what you actually get folks will take your breath away but not in the way you would like - 1/10 at best

Bad service, very poor food, had much better from local takeaway! will not be going back. Over priced, bland, are just some words to describe it.

First (and last) visit on Saturday evening. Food arrived pretty shapish, but a great disappointment. The veggie combo starter was a disgrace at 6.95. it wouldn't have fed a Deansgate rat. Dips were watery and bland compared to others I've been served. The Vegetarian South Indian Garlic Chilli was quite good, fiery as I expected. I wanted a really hot curry and that's what it was, pretty decent but nothing memorable apart from the silver bowl it arrived in. The garlic and coriander naan was better than i expected after the abysmal starter. My friend had the chicken jalfrezi and left it half-eaten, saying the curry tasted of tomato puree and the chicken pieces were strangely uniform shaped cubes, leading him to wonder if the chicken had been bought-in frozen. We were both disappointed at the small mound of rice, which wouldn't have been enough for a child. Come on PINKS! What's the idea????
We both couldn't wait to leave, a very big disappointment!! The bill took over 15 minutes to arrive - and then only after we had asked 3 different staff for it. The toilets looked like they could do with a good clean; I am always dubious about a restaurant's attitude towards cleanliness when the loos are shabby and in dire need of some TLC. The owners of SP need to get a serious grip - pay less attention to the trying-so-hard-to-be-trendy decor and more attention to the just about average (if you're lucky) food. Relieved we didn't fork out 25 quid each on the 'Christmas Banquet' which the staff were so eager for us to order. A forty-quid lucky escape. We won't be back.

I've eaten in hundreds of Indian restaurants. I can honestly say that this place has the most bland tasteless food I've ever had in an Indian. It's posh looking, and expensive, and I guess people who don't care abot what they're eating would be ok here. But I PROMISE you that virtually ANY Indian restaurant you try in Manchester will have better food. Much better.
