First (and last) visit on Saturday evening. Food arrived pretty shapish, but a great disappointment. The veggie combo starter was a disgrace at 6.95. it wouldn't have fed a Deansgate rat. Dips were watery and bland compared to others I've been served. The Vegetarian South Indian Garlic Chilli was quite good, fiery as I expected. I wanted a really hot curry and that's what it was, pretty decent but nothing memorable apart from the silver bowl it arrived in. The garlic and coriander naan was better than i expected after the abysmal starter. My friend had the chicken jalfrezi and left it half-eaten, saying the curry tasted of tomato puree and the chicken pieces were strangely uniform shaped cubes, leading him to wonder if the chicken had been bought-in frozen. We were both disappointed at the small mound of rice, which wouldn't have been enough for a child. Come on PINKS! What's the idea????
We both couldn't wait to leave, a very big disappointment!! The bill took over 15 minutes to arrive - and then only after we had asked 3 different staff for it. The toilets looked like they could do with a good clean; I am always dubious about a restaurant's attitude towards cleanliness when the loos are shabby and in dire need of some TLC. The owners of SP need to get a serious grip - pay less attention to the trying-so-hard-to-be-trendy decor and more attention to the just about average (if you're lucky) food. Relieved we didn't fork out 25 quid each on the 'Christmas Banquet' which the staff were so eager for us to order. A forty-quid lucky escape. We won't be back.

I've eaten in hundreds of Indian restaurants. I can honestly say that this place has the most bland tasteless food I've ever had in an Indian. It's posh looking, and expensive, and I guess people who don't care abot what they're eating would be ok here. But I PROMISE you that virtually ANY Indian restaurant you try in Manchester will have better food. Much better.

A very average curry house, which seems to cater more for people who like to be 'seen' rather than knowing what they are talking about food wise.
Sure, its in a great location, looks nice, but other than that, theres really nothing to make this place stand out. The food, service, or anything else about this place certainly isnt bad, its just average across the board, apart from the prices, which are bumped up due to it being such a trendy place.

Ah, Shimla Pinks. Where do we start?
By far my favourite Indian restaurant in Manchester. Ten times better than ANY place along the Curry Mile.
The restaurant itself is modern, clean, slick and the food is absolutely the best you'll taste in Manchester. The service is always quick, polite and courteous.
On the several occasions we've visited "Shimmies" we've always been offered an on-the-house G&T each whilst waiting for our taxi. And their G&T's (Bombay Sapphire) are excellent.

Went last night, the food was truly awful to the taste but well presented. I was not impressed and I certainly wouldn't return.

Went in a large group for the "Imperial Banquet". Apart from a very good starter, the meal was disappointing. There was hardly enough main course to go around, never mind to provide a banquet. And for desert, no exaggeration, there were 2 pieces for every 6 people approx. This meal was £30 per head. I wouldnt go back there if it had been £10 a head. Honestly, if this is what everybody gets in an "Imperial Banquet" then they would surely be liable under the Trades Description Act.

Been here a number of times. Never been disapointed. The banquet is really excellent but you need to be hungry to get through it.
Very consistent quality of food, service with a smile and all at a reasonable price. Try it.
