Although the service here isn't always the best (though like all restaurants it depends on who is working) I have to disagree with the general comments about the food.
Curry is my favorite food, and I've eaten at many curry houses in Manchester. Ashoka can be relied upon for really good curry.
Also, to the person who complained that their vindaloo was too hot... What did you expect?!?! (BTW - I've had the vindaloo from here and if anything it was a little mild for my taste).

It was the worst decision of my life to choose this place for a surprize meal for my mate. Although,I was a impressed with the candle heated stands on the table, but the food was already so cold the candles never worked.
The glasses were so manky we decided to cancel the drinks but were told that once the drinks are poured we cannot cancel the order.
I don't think I need to write anymore

I was in Manchester on business and visited the Ashoka on a quiet midweek evening. The staff were less than enthusiatic about serving a table for one, I waited ages for a pre-meal drink and then was eventually served with the blandest Indian food I've ever tasted.
Steer well clear.
