I wish I had read the reviews on here before I went for a meal at Ashoka.

Really lives up to it's name - my meal was A Shocker.

I ordered the special starter (mixed tikka everything) as a main course at a £3-50 supplement (£9.45) which was described as a delight and served on a sizzler.

It arrived on a cold plate without the Tikka Lamb. I queried it and was told it didn't come on a sizzler and didn't have lamb. It was still starter size as well.

Eventually they agreed to give me lamb as it said on the menu, but it arrived 15 minutes later and all the rest was cold. They warmed the rest up for me in a microwave - including the salad !!

Avoid this place.

Me, my wife and our 9 month old son visited Ashoka this evening and the food was really good in fact the Kahima curry was the best i have ever tasted, the flavours were so fresh. The staff were very friendly and attentative. The restaurant was child friendly providing us with a high quality high chair. Would recommend this Restaurant.

I visited this restaraunt yesterday evening with my partner. The service and food were exceptional. The meal was slightly soured by a buch of uncouth middle aged yobs who swore all evening. The party of yobs had to carry what can only be desribed as a lookalike from 'the hills have eyes', out to a taxi as he appeared to be dead. At one point, the leader of this rat pack, an older chap who looked like the bingo caller from Phoenix Nights attempted to make love to an ornamental lamp in front of women and children. I almost phoned the police at this point.. They appeared to be pressurising the staff for free drinks after they had paid for their meal. It was at this point I noticed the Lee Evans lookalike who was demanding free brandy had some sort of mess down the front of his shirt, it certainly wasn't curry.

I would use this establishment again, hopefully the shower of scum wont be in attendance.

I was in there on Saturday with the wife celebrating our wedding anniversary. The resturant was half full and we were seated next to a group of lads (about 20) they were well behaved and even bought the wife a rose! The food was good and we didnt have to wait long in between courses. The mixed grill starter was very good and the lamb bhuna for the main was also very pleasing. The group of 20 got a bit rowdy and one of them who appeared to have half his curry down his shirt proceeded to belch at regular intervals. On the whole it was a pleasant occasion and I think the management should think twice about seating a couple next to a group of boozy football fans. I would defintely go back there as the service and food was good and the ornamental candles on the table are a treat. Very vibrant!!

Nice friendly service. Run of the mill, dead average, curry house food. No better, no worse. You'll see nothing here you haven't seen a million times before. You'll get the same, middle-of-the-road curry house flavours you've had a million times before.

But that's not such a bad thing. If you take advantage of their offer, you get a pretty good meal for only about £8. They may not win any awards, but there's nothing here that's bad, and decent food at good prices along with very helpful service isn't the worst thing in the world.
