Kwok Man

I went there every time when I go shopping at Manchester, i think the service and food are very good. Is very busy at night time, coz is full of Chinese people, speciality overseas students. The foods are great price compared with other restaurants. Staff are really friendly, they always give me Chinese cake, I think is so much better than others Chinese restaurant in China town.

I recently visited the Kwok Man with my partner and was very disappointed with both service and food.The restaurant was busy with mainly Chinese people (which I thought was a good sign the food would be good) Initially we were ushered to a table in the corner facing the wall but after requesting another table we were re seated.The staff were very unfriendly and never spoke other than to take the order for drinks and food.I ordered the special Chow Mein which when it arrived has no prawns in it and hardly any meat- the pork was lumps of fat. When I complained I was told it was belly pork--- BELLY FAT.

The Manager did not take the dish away but instead brought a small plate of barbequed pork -- totally overcooked to replace the belly pork.My partner ordered a different dish which was not much better. The drinks were not even cooled,and service abysmal.

I am not a person that normally complains but that meal was so bad I had to. The dish was inedible and so I ended up leaving it and most of my drink- as did my partner.

Even when we paid the bill and the staff cleared the full dishes away no one even bothered to ask if there was a problem etc. I love Chinese food but I won't be going to Kwok Man again.

Had a miserable meal here.

Staff were surly.

Food had to be returned because of fat on plate instead of meat.

Beer was flat and tasteless.

Glad to pay and leave.

Should have disputed bill. Just glad to get out.

Won't get fooled again (August 2010)
