Avoid this restaurant at all costs - I was served frozen salmon fish cakes. Whilst the staff were friendly and could not apologise enough, to serve frozen food is simply unacceptable.

10 of us went here to a work leaving do and had a great time, with great food and friendly staff. One dish was sent back as being overcooked, and it was very quickly and apologetically resolved.

We have eat at Cafe Rouge before but this time decided to take our six year old daughter after taking her to the Theatre. It was an excellent experience the staff where brilliant with my daughter and we had an excellent meal which was cooked to perfection and really good value for money. If I was to eat out in Manchester again with a child this would be the place to go.

I have visited the Deansgate Cafe Rouge on two occasions and on both visits was very impressed.

The first visit was an unscheduled visit with friends. Even without booking the table and at a busy period it wasnt long before we were seated and enjoying the warm friendly atmosphere. The second visit was made with my parents who had come to visit, and was planned after my previous experience.

As mentioned the atmosphere is good, upon both visits there were numerous families around and i find it hard to believe (as per the previous review) that anyone would be turned away based on the fact they have children. This means that the establishment can be very noisy, which would not be to everyones tastes, however I found that this served to enhance the welcoming feel.

The food was excellent, well cooked and presented. Portions were sufficiently large to allow you to enjoy a three course meal should you choose but also large enough that i was happy to simply enjoy a main.

The service was what impressed me most about Cafe Rouge. The friendly attentive staff ensured that from the moment you enter, from the often drizzly Manchester main road, you are transported away to a very mediterranean bistro. Service was prompt and upon the second visit we also received personal service from one of the managers, who was even happy to personally mix a bloody mary for me.

Cafe Rouge offers very good value for money, with a good selection of specials available for those looking to tighten the purse strings. Ok the food available isnt the cheapest but the quality of food never leaves you feeling shortchanged. You dont so much dread the bill as dread feeling you may have left too little tip for the high quality service.

I would highly recommend this establishment and I am infact calling today to book for my best friends birthday meal.

We visited Cafe Rouge lunchtime on 13th March.

From walking in the door it was one of the most pleasureable dining out experience's I have had in England in a long time.

The staff were polite, attentive without being obtrusive, nothing was too much trouble for them and this goes for all of the staff not just the staff waiting at our table.

Please vist as the food was fantastic.

be warned - no children permitted and they don't put a sign on the door to warn you. I went in there at 7pm with my wife and little boy and we got shown the door. I have lived for 8 yrs in Paris and other places in Europe so this came as a surprise and humiliation in front of other customers. So it's a bar not a cafe after all. A real misdescription and I hope it fails. I can't comment on the food. A good place for avoiding families.

The atmosphere and the food on a very busy Saturday night was excellent, the service however was shocking; the waitress didn't allow me to finish my starter beofre she "dropped" my main course to the side of my starter dish whilst I was still eating it!

However, a senior waiter "clocked" this immediately and I saw the shock in his face; I therefore called him over, he immediately apologised and reported it to the manager; she came to the table to apologise and gave us a bottle of wine that we had enjoyed as an apology.

This was all done very professionally and I do accept that this type of thing can happen, however they immediately rectified the situation in a very welcoming and professional manner.

I was so impressed that our next trip to Manchester for an evening out is this Saturday the 10th December 2005 and I am now trying to book a nice table for two again as we both really enjoyed it!
