San Carlo

I regularly eat here, usually saturday lunch times whilst shopping. I have always had excellent, quick service. The food, despite how busy it always is, always arrives very quickly. Lovely food, would recommend!

Overall very good, despite having virtually the worst pizza. Considering how great most of the other food is at San Carlo, I was astounded at the soggy, insipid excuse for a pizza.

But there is a solution....skip the pizza and feast on the other goodies, which are almost all fantastic!

Great atmosphere, lovely bar and decor all round, food was excellent, service was very slow for a weekday lunchtime and lacking but polite we received no starters so cancelled them when our main arrived, they dont know how to make a baileys latte so that was removed from the bill as i could not drink it and we waited a very very long time for our food but overall the food will keep me coming back for more and the feel of the place, however the person i dined with wont because of the slow service and errors no matter how good the food was. They remove items from the bill immediately which helps balance any negatives for me. Its when i have to argue something off the bill that puts me off returning anywhere.

All in all i really enjoyed the place and will recommend the food to anyone.

Manchester San Carlo. We have been here several times and it never disappoints. Food great, service excellent. There is a great atmosphere. Also worth noting it is busy enough to go for a first date as there is plenty going on !!!!

We booked a table for 2 at San Carlo on a friday night. Despite being very busy, the service was attentive and friendly and the food was excellent.

However, having read a few reviews online I carefully checked the bill. As in the other reviews I have read there were 4/5 items on the bill we did not order. They did not seem at all surprised with this, went away and brought back the real bill, minus £45.

I would recommend this restaurant, but make sure you check the bill very carefully.

One of my favourite places in town. Yes, it's a bit hectic, and the waiters have a bit more attitude than you'd expect. But the food is sensational, and that is the bottom line.

I simply love the place, and that's a fact.

We always eat at San Carlo when we want to go somewhere really nice, with great food, attentive service, and a varied menu. The staff are always very pleasant - they are Italian, yes, and therefore are a bit loud, but this defintiely isn't a bad thing - it just adds to the atmosphere.

The food is beautifully presented, and tastes amazing. I don't think I've had a meal from there that I've not loved. The speed in which it arrives also means that we know we won't ever have to wait hours, even when the restaurant is very busy on a Friday or Saturday.

The interior of the restaurant is very nice - it's classy and chic, with a little bit of glamour thrown in. Highly recommended

On arrival all seem well, great atmosphere and nice surroundings. We ordered cold starters but the food was so cold it was tasteless. The main courses were not hot but only slightly warm and did not taste freshly made. When the bill arrive we were overcharged £30 but this was removed quickly and quietly but they did not seem to be a suprised at this error.

6 of us dined at the San Carlo on Friday 21/03/08. The food was good, however, it tended to go cold very quickly.

Having booked the table by phone, on arrival they denied all knowledge of the booking, but were able to seat us.

After 30 minutes they took our food order, but had not asked us what drinks we required. All in all, the service was quite simply abysmal; it was slow, and most of the staff were very disinterested and had a bad attitude (until it was time for the bill).

EVERYONE WHO EATS THERE - BE WARNED; CHECK YOUR BILL.

We received our bill, and had been charged £240.00. On closer examination, we had been charged for an extra garlic bread, 3 extra main courses that we had not had, extra drinks and vegetables we had not ordered.

We queried the bill with the manager, but did not inform him what the discrepancy was. We simply asked that we receive the correct bill for what we had ordered.

The bill then miraculously appeared with the correct items we had ordered, and the correct price. We had been over charged £70.00 on the first bill.

It is not acceptable in this day and age, particularly as there is so much competition in central Manchester to rip people off. Which is what this restaurant is blatantly doing.

What with this and the lacksadaisical and very poor attitude to service we will not be recommending San Carlo or eating there again.

by far the best food i had on my visit to manchester. amazing buffalo mozzarella, delicious wines. i was with a group and everyone was thrilled with their meals. i had the tuna steak and it was amazing. the wait staff was very personable and attentive.
