Decor is quite oldy worldy and pub-like but food is good as is service. We dined there at lunch and chose the surprise 5 course at 19.95. Portions are well-sized in comparison to other restaurants of the same calibre. A lovely way to while away the afternoon

We went to the Moss Nook on Valentines Day as 1st timers. Knowing it had a good reputation but pricey. The service was good but the food was decidedly bland! We were very dissapponted, no distinguishable flavours through out, no taste, the sauces were almost identical. The berries in the baked alaska still frozen!!! Seared scallops tasted of frying pan!!!I wish I could say there was a course (and we had 6) that was satisfactory but in all honesty I can not. At these prices I excpect quality through out, not just service. The wine selection is admirable and staff willing & eager but the whole night was a disappointment, caused by bland tasting food. I doubt we'll be returning!

I have heard a lot of good reports about this but was dissapointed. The multi course taster menu had excellent presentation but some of the flavours clashed. If this menu shows the range and quality of the restaurant, a ramekin of rice pudding for sweet tells volumes.
