Mr Thomas's Chop House

Usually a great venue for a meal but disappointing on this occasion.
Service was friendly, though food was slow to arrive.
One main course (hake) was excellent but the other (roast beef) was not so impressive: the food was luke warm and the potatoes seemed to have been reheated (or rewarmed) and were barely edible.
Desserts were very good as were the drinks.

Had a Sunday lunch here yesterday and the food and atmosphere was very good. The service was a little on the slow side, but bearable. We had the roast beef dinner and there was certainly plenty of beef on the plate, maybe even too much. We could have done with a little less beef and more vegetables. Unfortunately, the gravy was a bit tasteless. But overall we enjoyed the meal and would go back again. £15 for a roast dinner does seem a little on the high side too. A little thing that annoyed us was a beer on our bill which we didn't have, but they did quickly remove it. We always find it annoying when service is added to the bill which it is here.

Love this place both for drinks in the pub area and for the food. The quality of food is good and a nice size, service has been great and the bill is spot on (£70.00 fro two courses and two wines for two peeps). Downside is always ask for a wine cooler as the wine is often warm but otherwise a weekly treat!
