I would not recommend this restaurant especially if you want to book. I booked 2 weeks in advance and turned up fifteen minutes early. They did not have us down on the booking. The man at front of house made no attempt at apology. made a phone call and said 'okay then' . I said does that mean you want us to come back at six and he said yes. We came back a few minutes before six and he had given our table away. Once again he made no attempt at an apology saying that he called our name but we weren't there.

We could have had a long wait for another table - this together with the rudeness influneced my decision not to eat there. It also looked very cramped in the eating area so you would feel very close to the people on the next table.

I therefore have no idea what the food is like but but i definately wouldn't eat there if I was paid to.

The staff at Thomas's always make you feel welcome. That is why i have been going in the place for 20+ years. Derek and Sharon run a tight ship and if there is anything you are not happy about, tell them and it will not happen again! You don't ask, you don't get !

Steak and kidney pud is my favorite, along with the corned beef hash and fish and chips. All the food is great and the wines are usually up to scratch.

Myself and 14 of my fellow builders are going in at Christmas for a bite to eat before we hit the town and i can't wait ! Merry Christmas fellow Chop Houser's.

Went for lunch after my son's graduation - meals were good but overpriced for the quality as they lacked that WOW factor. Waited ages for service even though we went before rush hour.

Disappointed given it's reputation and other reviews.

We booked in advance knowing how busy this restaurant will be on a Saturday night. We made the staff aware of our booking, however we were a little disappointed to learn that our table was still occupied and no other table was available! After about 10mins of standing around another couple came to register their arrival, only to be seated immediately. The waiter could see our disdain, so reassured us we would be next as it was just the poeple were still eating at our intended table. After another 10mins of standing in the crowded area we were finally seated. The service once seated was very attentive and we couldnt really find fault after the our 'slow start'. We had sneaked a preview of the menu online, so we knew what to expect. The food was delivered in good time and was very well presented, with fair portions, although my partner felt the Gammon Steak to be a little on the small side, and £11.95 for Corned Beef Hash a little pricey. The wine was perfectly chilled, although the 'cheaper' options were all sold out by 7pm! Overall, good service, good food , but a little overpriced for what you get. Worth going for a 'one-off' to experience the building and atmosphere etc, but dont think we would bother again, you can get better food for the money elsewhere.

I dine here at least one a month.

A la carte menu selections and wine have always exceeded my expectations.

Service seems to vary, from satisfactory to "must try harder" (slow service on a busy night I can tolerate; the shoddy service has occurred only once - and the culprit has not been seen there since!).

Overall - a recommended experience.

We went for our Christmas lunch on Monday 18th December. We paid £66 for two of us, and it really wasn't worth £10. The portions were small, no taste to anything, and the vegetables were hard. The gravy was the best thing about the whole meal! Not only that, but there was no Christmas spirit anywhere, not even a serviette with holly sprigs on it!! Blink and you would have missed the Christmas pud! I'm afraid we will NOT be recommending Thomas' chop house to our friends and co-workers!

What a day, the manager was very rude not only to me but to other people that I noticed in the restaurant. I had the steak n kidney pud it was excellent but the chips were warm, I told the manager but he was so rude and very slow to respond. Not a place I will be taking my employers to again!

I have recently stopped at to Mr. Thomas's pub and restaurant and I found it have a great atmosphere and I have to say my experience there was really quite nice, The fish pie was delicious, although the portion was quite small, and my friends Sirloin Steak was also delicious but again the size wasn't what you'd expect from the price, Although I am a firm believer in quality not quantity so the only truly disappointing aspect of the meal was the chips that accompanied the steak. I just don’t understand why restaurants insist on using oven chips!
