what the critics say

Telegraph

Matthew Norman - 4/5

Tuesday, August 23, 2011 - A quartet of sizzling tandoori lamb chops, alluringly covered with browned onions, tingled the tongue with ginger, garam masala and much besides. Three huge prawns, perfectly cooked to retain their meaty texture, bore the same imprint of freshly crushed spices...That quail was a revelation, the juiciest of meat in a thick and deliciously coriander-laden gravy. Haleem, a collation of seven types of lentil with steamed, ground lamb and crispy onions was a delight as much for its textural contrasts as the intensely gingery taste.

Sunday Oct 24th 2010. Very dissaponting experience which started quite well. Starters were very good, chops and shami kebab but the main course, rice and naan were terrible. Lamb Nirhana sauce tasted like packet mix of chinese curry and had the same texture and consistency. The chicken madras just did not taste anything like a madras, no lemony taste just a bit of heat. The chicken was small cubes clearly machine cut and very unatural look and taste. The rice looked and tasted like Uncle Bens packet rice, not what you expect in an Asian restaurant. The naan was stale. This was the first time in 35 years I have ever complained and not eaten a "curry". I have always worked on the basis of there being no bad curries some are just better than others. This was bad. The staff were very apologetic and offered an exchange or food to take away which I graciously refused. At least they seemed concerned. What a shame as it was my first visit to the famous curry mile. On this sample it is not a patch on the Birmingham Balti belt where I have enjoyed many restaurants and Asian food for many years. The curry mile appears to be merely a tourist attraction and not genuine Asian eating.

Lot of food colours. Tin Food. Loud music playing endlessly, (though they did turn sound down a bit when asked) also too hot (no air conditioning) seemed to be lots of noisy students- not a place for anyone . Staff only seem interested in serving more drinks to customers. Have visited much better value- for- money retaurants on Curry Mile, not a place for genuine curry lovers!

Its Awful

this was the best curry i have eaten for a long time, the food was authentic and tasty not just over spicy like you find in a lot of indian restraunts, there was 7 of us eating and every one said the same, the staff were polite and attentive, well worth going.

Very expensive, for what appeared child size portions, loud music playing endlessly, (though they did turn sound down a bit when asked) also too hot (no air conditioning) seemed to be lots of noisy students- not a place for anyone over 25. Staff only seem interested in serving more drinks to customers. Have visited much better value- for- money retaurants on Curry Mile, not a place for genuine curry lovers!
