Wow! We had an amazing anniversary dinner last week here, and it was largely, but not completely, due to the staff at this restaurant. I brought my Missus out for a treat, and she wasn't disappionted. The scallops are amazing, the lamb and duck(seperately) are delicious, and we had a great bottle of Gevrey Chambertin to wash it all down with. The wine was recommended by the maitre d'; as the winemaker had visited and had a dinner here not long ago, she knew all about it.

She also recommended a sharing plate of small desserts - nice touch, by the way - the women can satisfy their sugar craving without appearing greedy, and the men can finish it off!

I have already booked us in again for her birthday!

I had my Mothers Day lunch at Longridge and it was superb. We arrived for a 12.00 lunch, had drinks beforehand and had time to study the 'me and u'... We couldn't make our minds up because it all looked so inviting so we did what we usually do and ordered different dishes for each course and then saved each other a 'taster' of each. I didn't want to part with my rabbit terrine, it was luscious...(am not a good speller...). I then opted for the Beef which was perfectly cooked and locally produced and was enough to fill and not overface - the veg were perfect - crisp, seasonal and complimented the meat perfectly. I must say, that there has been a vast improvement in the way that the staff have been trained in order to be able to, not only tell you what's on your plate - but to be able to talk about it. Longridge has an extensive wine list and they have an extremely good selection by the glass which compliments each course. I really don't know where you could go for such a superb meal, feel that you have the table to yourself(although they were really, really busy) for £30.00 per head (excluding wine). Longridge should really be on the Michelin Map and Heathcote himself should be rewarded for providing a range of food that suits all people, prices and their pockets. GREAT VALUE. If I could put 2 tens by the value for money then this would be the place.
