In my view, Paul Heathcote's Olive Press restaurants are showing the assembled multitude of Italian mediocrity how to do pizzas. A good base, stretched thin, cooked through and cooked crisp with good quality toppings and not all under a blanket of plastic mozzarella. Sounds simple. So why does it take a lad from Bolton to show all the local Italians how it should be done?
Pizzas are what to go for here, and it's unfortunate that it's not a slightly longer list of options. Other dishes on the menu aren't really in the same league, and I find can disappoint.

Visited the Olive Press for lunch 03/07/09. Great atmosphere, service and food. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Food excellent. Seemed to be popular for "business lunching", but also much evidence of happy "family dining". Dishes well-presented, flavoursome and value-for-money. heartily recomment for any occasion.

Olive Press was really good. Even though they have taken the sea food spaghetti with bread crumbs off the menu the sea food risotto was nearly as nice. The wine list needs expanding. Just because it's an italian restaurant doesn't mean the wine needs to be limited to italian. Really lively and excellent fun ambience.
