Sapporo Teppanyaki Restaurant

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. our table was booked for 9.30 and we did not sit down until a good 1hr and 20 minutes later. 6 of our party ordered the emperor banquet at £40 per head and 4 of us ordered seperate, a starter each and a meal each at £20 per head, we all received our starter at roughly the same time, however we then had to sit and wait while other members of our party were served very small amounts of their banquet whilst we were served up with a portion of potatos and a dollop of bad stir fry that was not even a childs portion.
1 hr later and freezing cold food on the plate, they then brought us a bowl of rice. when we eventually did get our food myself and my husband had eaten the cold veg because we were so hungry and then were insulted by being served 7 tiny peces of steak whilst i had 8 tiny pieces of lamb. Its the worst food i have ever been served up in a restaurant, by this time it was midnight, and other members of our party had started to complain along with myself, as all of the food on the banquet was not served up and one member had been given nothing and had eaten her rice because she was so hungry. complaining seemed to fall upon deaf ears and after much debate they knocked a tiny amount off the bill. It was just one big insult. one big rip off we actually went home starving. If this restaurant thinks it can live off the Teppanyaki name, then it needs to think again, because eventually word will spread, serve up bad food, give bad service then get a bad review. It is sad as we had all looked forward to eating, and a birthday meal was ruined.
We paid for our food because we were not after a free meal, we just wanted someone to apologise and even if they had offered a complimentary drink it would have made a little difference, but that did not happen. A whole lot of money for a whole lot of nothing.

Sadly, as the place LOOKS great....the food is very substandard. You could do better yourself at home...and I am not kidding about that. Imagine the blandest, most tasteless stir-fry you've ever had.......Sapporo is like that, only worse. We paid £75 for two people and I could have killed myself afterwards.
If you like watching guys throw knives in air and balance eggs on top of their heads...go to the circus. If you come to Sapporo, that is the only thing you'll remember....apart from the VERY sizable bill. You have been warned.

The place admittedly does look good and the atmosphere is quite good. However I think practically every table was there for a birthday including my own, happy birthday songs were so frequent it reminded me of Frankie and Benny's. The food is absolutely awful for what they are asking. For the price of a meal here you could eat at practically any restaurant in Manchester. The egg fried rice was below the satndard offered in any take away house in Manchester and you would struggle to make food as bland as this anywhere. Perhaps they shouldjust charge to watch the chefs and then you could go somewhere (anywhere) better for the food!

That photo of the surroundings doesn't do it justice - it's very comfortable. I went last Sunday night with my partner. Tables centre around the chef who prepares your food in front of you. If your group is small you are seated with other couples, very comfortable, loads of elbow room nothing too intrusive. As for the chefs - wow, real showmanship, knive skills, comedy, fire, and beautiful food, the only thing they did'nt do was stand on their heads. You have to see this for yourself.
We' re a couple including a bottle of wine, 3 courses and a £10 tip which i felt was well disserved our evening cost £90.00. I don't feel robbed the show was great.

'Not very good.
Very expensive, at £18 or so for the mains, which are VERY low on flavour. It's an attractive room, and they obviously spent a mint on it, but the food, sadly, is miles behind the decor. The termpura was oily and soggy, light years away from the light, crunch feel of proper tempura. The tepanyaki is fun to watch, but ultimately no better than a home stir-fry. We'll not be back.

First time at a Teppanyaki on monday.
Really enjoyed it. Obviously the food was never going to push boundaries, but thats not always what you want. It was tasty and well seasoned. However the real treat comes in the atmosphere and the showmanship of the chefs. Had a really good time and so did my girlfriend. It was a great laugh, and i caught an Egg!
Funniest buit was when another guy didn't and covered a girl in egg ha ha!
Still if you haven't ever been you should go, great experience and fun times.
Service was very attentive too.

I like japanese food alot and tepanyaki is my favourite. This is
not the best Japanese Restaurant that I've been to. The food is awful. It doesn't taste Japanese at all. For e.g,the fried rice that we had does not have it's own flavour and tasted just like an egg. However, customer service is excellent. For this quality of food, it's over-priced. I'll never return to this restaurant again. There are many other restaurants that can offer us the same atmosphere with good quality of food.

My family and I, were here to celebrate my grandsons 18th. birthday. We couldn't have chosen better! The food was excellent, the staff , so pleasant and helpful. The highlight of the night, is the entertainment from the chef's, who were great fun for all age groups. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who would also like to experience as good a night as ours.
