The Olive

Took my family on Saturday and would never go back. A few minor irritations seemed to be redeemed by the excellent steaks but once the bill came it spoilt everything. Aside from £25 of drinks we never had (OK, mistakes can happen), it was the managers application of the "2 for 1" main courses that incensed. There were 5 of us, 4 having steaks £12 or above but my vegetarian daughter settled for soup, salad and a few sides of vegetables. Her £3 salad was classed as one of our free mains, instead of the £12 steak, which we were entitled to under the offer. I therefore asked for a seperate bill for my daughter, but the manager, who is "never wrong" on these matters refused. He also said I had a "terrible attitude", not seeming to realise it was his attitude that was creating the problem.

The additional drinks were eventually removed from the bill with no apology from the manager, but the salad remained as one of the free main course. I would have refused to pay this, but realised it would spoil things for my family and as they forgot to charge us for coffees I figured we were about even, paid up (with a tip for the staff, who were fine) and left to the manager's shaking head. I doubt he will be in business too long.

We went to The Olive for the first time on Saturday 22/12 and it won't be the last !

Fantastic food and atmosphere , would definitely recommend it for a party night

Attentive staff and good service as well
