We visited Gusto in Knutsford on Tuesday evening, the restaurant was busy and when approaching the door we were informed that for the evening they were fully booked, but he had a table coming free in about fifteen minutes after they had finished coffees. The atmosphere was fantastic with a real buzz and vibrance to the restaurant. We asked for a quiet corner so we could watch the younger ones socialise while we shared quiet conversation. We were seated in the conservatory which was cosy and had a view of the clear sky. A truly magical evening which was highlighted by our fantastic waiter who we think was Mike (Tended our every need, very knowledgeable) and the manager Matt (handsome and young, superbly attentive) spent time talking to us making sure we had enjoyed ourselves. The food was lovely and fresh, with a perfectly cooked tuna steak!! We have already booked to go again for a family christening and I plan a trip with colleagues for after work cocktail get together. Well done Gusto, a fine line between creating a vibrant bar and a classy restaurant.

I visited Gusto in Knutsford on Monday evening for an impromptu Christmas get together with some of my friends. We hadn't booked a table but where surprised to find the restaurant very busy at 7pm and the atmosphere bustling. We were greeted by the manager who advised us to get a drink in the bar whilst he got a table ready for us. The bartender recommended a bottle of sparkling pinot rose which was delicious and a bargain at just £17 for a bottle!

After 15 minutes the manager came over to us with a bowl of olives and advised that the table would be another 10 minutes so we ordered another bottle! Once sat we were warmly greeted by our waiter who advised we get some garlic bread whilst looking at the menu which we couldn’t resist. The menu is clearly split into Salads, Pastas, Meat, Pizza and Seafood we ordered a mixture of dishes and a selection of side orders to share.

Sadly we didn’t have room for puddings but I will be returning to sample the chocolate calzone in the New Year. We opted for liqueur coffees to round off the meal and filled in a card to receive a 50% off food voucher in January!

I had a similar experience in Gusto in Knutsford, the service was poor the food was worse and the bill was over priced especially for a chain. I won't be going back either and I would advise others not to go.

Please don't get me wrong, one or two waiters and waitresses were polite apoligetic etc but after booking a table 2 days prior we had to wait 30 mins, not a really big issue I thought.

We ordered Mussells which were not available, fair enough could happen to anyone.

We replaced this order in a rush with bread, not very exciting but a bit of a starter at least. We then waited a further 25 mins for the main after the bread had been taken away.

Just a AVERAGE retaurant I though, untill the penne carbonara arrived, well I know typically the Itallians like al dente with less sauce than pasta... but this was two teaspoons of sauce and undercooked pasta smothered in salt!

I did contemplate forcing this down as it was my step dads birthday but could not and sent it back. The waiter acknowledged this then after my family had half finished their meals (which I had picked at without a fork as the waiter had taken it away) a more senior member of staff offered us a compensatory meal. Not wanting to sit and eat alone I declined but noted the offer and was even more pleased when the offer of free deserts was made! Thats great I thought, my confidence in this establishment almost restored....

Until....The table who arrived much later had a plate full of mussells...I don't complain much as a rule but by now I was on a role, I asked the poor waiter if that table had pre ordered, he replied no, why? I asked why when we ordered way before them they had mussells which we were declined? The poor waiter had no answer and hurried off.

I'm not a dessert person but was touched by the offer of free desserts - its the principal - I ordered a glass of wine and my partner chose a drink whilst my family chose desserts. I, being the loud complainer, received my drink staight away. Although we heard a ruccous from the next table!?

Apparently Knutsford Gusto had gotten the bill wrong, well we chuckled at this and enjoyed the desserts, I enjoyed my wine but my fiancee had yet to receive his drink. By this time we just expected this. Untill our own bill arrived 20 minutes after we asked for it!!

Knutsford Gusto had charged us for the Mussells we had not had, the carbonnara I had sent back and the drink my partner never received! The waiter realised the errors, first when he saw my partner had not received the drink and the rest pointed out by my step dad!

I apologised for complaining as I felt the waiter had done his best and it is not in my nature to complain and this appalled me as I felt I was in the wrong for pointing out he errors of a bad restaurant!

I am disgusted by Gusto in Knutsford, there are many very good restaurants next door or across the road and I would gladly pay more to get a good meal and good night out rather the apolegetic staff to a poor kitchen with no ambience and stuck up culture, as I believe the main reason for my poor treatment was due to me turning up in my work clothes rather than a pretty cocktail dress.

I'm sorry Gusto in Knutsford if not all your clientelle are footballers wives some women actually work for a living!! But just you remember who earns their money and you can guarantee I won't be back and every business meeting I go to and every contact I meet will be advised the same!!
