I ate at the Market on Saturday night was was pleasantly surprised with the food, service and ambience having read some of the reviews on this site.
The King Prawn starters were cooked to perfection and the rump steak was well worth the £2.00 supplement. The steak was accompanied with proper thick cut chips. They didnt scrimp on the portions either.
Dessert was were the problems started. i just could not decide, so was offered half and half. Fantastic. The service was superb and attentive (though not overbearing) and the food excellent.
The restaurant had couples and groups in which made for a convivial atmosphere.
Would certainly recommend.

I recently took my wife and children to new afternoon tea experience at the Market Restaurant. It was fantastic value! £9.95 for huge plates assorted with Scones. Sandwiches, Cakes and a huge lump of gooey chocolate which the kids loved! I was so impressed by the restaurant that I then went on the Sunday and was amazed at the amount of choice such a small restaurant has on a Sunday.

What a place. Had my reservations from the outside but the atmosphere and decor inside was perfect. Now the service. Polite, attentive (but not pushy) and knowledgeble about the menu. They even found me an umbrella as the evening had turned very wet when I left. The food was on the pricey side but worth every penny. This was my first time at the Market but I will definately be returning.

The Market Restaurant...What to Say? Brilliant.
The restaurant is a relatively small space compared to many restaurants in Manchester, which is a fantastic breath of fresh air. Its a homely atmosphere with bubbly people (both staff and fellow diners).
I ate there last Friday, the duck was amazing. Going off that night it is the best dining experience in the city (I believe it was voted the best restaurant in Manchester).
Back to the food, my companion, started with the Gazpacho which was amazing as it cooled her down (which is needed when the weathers like this) followed by the Lamb which was perfectly cooked and tender. I started with king prawns (which came with a delicious salsa) and ate duck for main course.
I left the restaurant completely satisfied as it met and then exceeded my expectations.
Upon returning home I looked for the Market on facebook and was delighted to find I could become a fan.
Finally, times are tough! Therefore value for money must be taken into consideration and i was definitely not disapointed. Therefore I implore you to explore Manchester and find the citys gems as i believe i have.

Visited yesterday having read some good reviews. Four of us were not disappointed with a splendid lunch. The starters were very agreeable (prawn cocktail, pea soup and black pudding with ham hock fritters). The main courses were equally good with a chicken and mediterranean vegetables and a smoked salmon linguine being very tasty and appetising. One member of our party reguested additional vegetables to accompany his chicken and these were supplied quickly and without additional cost. Dessert was beyond us but coffee was supplied to our tastes. Following the meal the management offered us a house produced damson brandy as a digestif. It was a delicious end to a lovely lunch.
