Obsidian Bar and Restaurant

Obsidian is great. We had a family party here last week, 12 of us, and everyone bent over backwards to make our night special. The service was excellent, both in the bar and the restaurant. Everyone loved the food. Thank you Obsidian

Tried this place for the first time on NYE. Couldn't fault the decor/atmosphere and the food was great. My only complaint was the non-existent service.

We were kept waiting almost an hour for our starter and every course after that took ages. Our table was booked for 9.30 and we ended up seeing in the New Year by chasing staff requesting our coffee that still hadn't arrived and when it did we had to ask for milk and sugar and then a third request was needed to obtain spoons.

I guess it's hard to get staff to work that time of year but even so the restaurant was not full.

Icing on the cake was them getting the bill wrong, twice!!

Quite good soup but no bread offered. Good salman starter. Main course duck was well cooked but the oriental style veg was like jam - not a fresh tasting accompaniment. Boiled potatoes had been kept warm somewhere. Cauliflower cheese had no seasoning at all and was shown the salt dispenser which had no salt in. Staff were very busy and all over the place but where you wanted them to be and that's looking after the diners. most inpersonal service. Lovely seating and attractive restaurant with very noisy music.

Went to Obsidian for the first time in a few months last weekend. I heard they had a new Head Chef and wanted to try out the new A La Carte. I had the Assiette of Starters to share which was delicious and a fab idea for a second date! (little bits of everything!). I then had the Whole Roasted Chateaubriand which was the best cooked meat I've had in a long, long time. After my to-die-for meal we then did the 'Obsidian' thing by moving over to the bar for some signature cocktails (the Porn Star Martini is awesome!). The friendly and attentive service, along with a great atmosphere continued consistently throughout the evening. Fantastic as always! Keep up the good work!

Hada stonking meal in this place last night. Never been before, awesome decor, fit birds, great menu (very un-Manchester! sorry!) and a dessert to conquer all desserts in the chocolate brioche. Oh my god I could have eaten two of them. It was recommended by the waitress who said I could have my money back if I didnt enjoy it. I could have lied but I couldnt hide the childish smirk across my face. Good work guys and girls. I'll be back.

Love obsidian to bits! The food is always incredible and the new prix fixe menus at lunch and dinner offer quality at affordable prices (I can now afford to go more often!) Best bar in town for cocktails too!
