"The starter, supposed to be a Smoked Haddock Tart just tasted like a cheese pie"

Or even Sour Grapes.

I know this place and have eaten there umpteen times, and while it may not hit the heights every time, it's one of the best restaurants in Manchester.

Service is well above average, the food generally is too. I'd recommend it.

I have just been to The Lime Tree for a friend's birthday. Can I just say that I am more than a little surprised by the other reviews on this fabulous restaurant. The food, wine, service and atmosphere was all lovely. I was visiting from London and this little gem can give many restaurants in London a run for their money. Highly recommended.

Went on Christmas Eve and the menu was terrible, full of game & fish. The starter, supposed to be a Smoked Haddock Tart just tasted like a cheese pie. The duck I had for the main course was absolutely revolting. Awful service and horrifically overpriced.

The service was below par. One waiter was impolite to say the least. The house dry white wine was awful. The starters were bland. The pasta main course was an oily mess. The dessert was quite nice though. The decor and ambience is a sort of a cross between a canteen and a doss-house. 2/10.
