We have eaten at the Lime Tree on various occasions and have been pleased with our meal but last weekend we went for a family celebration Sunday Lunch which none of us really enjoyed. The restaurant was busy and noisy but this did not bother us.

The service and wines were excellent but the meal left something to be desired.

The beef was tough and the chocolate brownies simply had not been baked – they resembled mousse. We were all disappointed and will not be rushing back or perhaps we should simply avoid Sunday lunchtime.

Went to the Lime Tree on friday 13th (maybe we should have been prepared??) for our Valentine's Day meal as it had been recommended by an acqaintance. We arrived on time for our reservation and were sat down to wait for our table to become free. Two couples who arrived after us where then seated, including on the table we had been waiting for. When we mentioned we were still waiting they then moved this couple off their table to seat us, which was a little embarassing. Our starters were delicious but both main courses were extremely disappointing, namely the buttenut squash and goats cheese filo parcel (was basically a samosa-shaped piece of pastry dripping in fat) and the pheasant (so tough my partner could hardly get the meat off with his knife). At the end when our bill arrived they had charged us for a bottle of wine from the couple at the next table. Will definitely not be going back.
