Sunday, March 07, 2010 - Char sui buns, while hardly exemplary, were soft and light, and the sticky, sweet, porky filling did the job. Strands of squid, though showing that rubberiness that comes with a pause in the deep freeze, had at least been greaselessly deep-fried. I loved the seafood in a scallop and prawn dumpling, which had a pleasing bite, but the sticky rice-flour casing was far too thick and gelatinous...It might well be possible to get a glamorous meal here. Ours just hadn't been it.

Average....no better or worse...dim sum in what is quite an authentic Hong Kong environment. The service is ok...not great, but perfectly fine. As an overall experience, there's nothing wrong with this place.....and it's as close as you'll get to eating dim sum in Hong Kong........but there are better places in town as far as the food is concerned.

New Hong Kong and Fu's immediately spring to mind as places with substantially better food.....though perhaps not as much atmosphere. 'Guess it depends what you're after.

Just been to glamorous and as usual the food was excellent. The only disappointment is that we were, I feel ripped off. The Christmas banquet menu two people seemed good value at £27.50. I was stunned when that got doubled to £55 charging £27.50 each. Also I hate the 10% thing being added into the total. It is after all discressionary and rather presumptious I feel thouroughly stung.

I agree with the too much MSG thing, otherwise the food is very Hong Kong I am Hong Kong so I know. Service is not bad either. It has a lot of Hong Kong dishes not offered by other westernised chinese Restaurant. Parking is free and you have a great supermarket below what more can one ask for ?

I disagree with the harsh reviews. If you have been to Hong Kong you would understand that Glamorous serves genuine and authentic chinese food. The standard match those of hong kong. The portions are of a decent size, food always fresh and the amount of chinese customers there speaks for itself. I would highly recommend this restaurant, every visit is a pleasure and the staff are alway friendly and happy to help.

We took a party of 5 there on Saturday 15/5. The food was OK, but the service was appalling. I've never seen such a surly bunch of staff like this lot, food was slammed on the table, no-one checked the meal, no-one offered any dessert choices. No-one even smiled.

There are plenty of fine Chinese restaurants - we'll use them in future

We found this place the worst Chinese restaurant we've ever visited. The food was average, but over-priced for the setting (looking out into the interior of a multistorey car park within a chinese supermarket complex).

Our experience was blighted by huge delays in service and generally being ignored by the staff. Some dishes came out over 90 mins late because the kitchen downed tools to eat their own food in the corner of the restaurant. We were charged for the full bill even when we told them we could wait no longer (and didn't eat the late dishes).

The second big problem was the appalling state of the toilet facilities. This ultimately put me off ever returning to this establishment. I will not describe the state of the toilets, but they certainly hadn't seen a cleaner for a few days.

I'm a frequent visitor to China and this place is about the most authentic Chinese I've been to in the UK. Dim sum very good value at lunch, haven't had the evening menu. It's typically Chinese in every way - good dim sum, not very good service, horrendously tacky interior, excellent tea etc... personally I like it a lot and will be using it again for lunch. The amount of Chinese in there just show you how they get it authentically right. If you want to try the real thing - I'd recommend this place, but if you want a more Anglicised version of Chinese food, stick to Chinatown.

Excuse me!! But it sounds like you lot don't know how to eat. The comments i read were harsh and the staff were lovely, I just got out of a divorce and the staff were very sympathetic therefore that just shows how caring they were.

The food was not undercooked becasue the meat is supposed to be red and for those who do not respect chinese food then how dare you comment on how rubbish it is. The chefs take time and space just to make food for you, just think of how lucky you are to even be able to eat anywhere.

Don't even make any harsh comments on the decoration because that just shows that you judge a book by it's cover

The food there is brilliant. The staff are very friendly. Although i respect some people for not liking it but many people have different views and opinions so i think that if anyone wants to go to a chinese restaurant i totally recommened it . But if i were you i'll not believe whether the food is good or not unless you try it yourself. It can get really busy though so if your there on a busy day i won't expect too much attention . But the staff there will take the challenge and try to their best in not making any mistakes.
