Tai Wu Restaurant In Manchester

your comments review this restaurant

This is a positive review. I wrote a negative review of Tai Wu after trying their Sunday Dim Sum. That opinion hasn't changed. The circus that is Sunday in Tai Wu is to be avoided at all costs. Average, at best Dim Sum that you'll wait a long time to get, served in an overly crowded, noisy room.

But if you go during normal hours, and order a la carte you will get a really, really good meal. In particular, the Seczhuan menu is fantastic, though oddly is only available after 6pm.

Service is good.....helpful and friendly. No complaints.

Overall, if you avoid the Sunday madhouse (for Sunday Dim Sum go to New Hong Kong in Chinatown)......you'll get a great meal at Tai Wu. We now go there on a regular basis, and it has joined Fu's (still the best), New Hong Kong (not far behind) and Wings (expensive, but undeniably good food) on our regular Chinese circuit. Go.

went to tai wu for a nice romantic meal with my husband,,and as always the food was fantastic. we arrived slightly early and was shown to our table straight away and a drinks order was taken. we were left to chose from the menu and the waitress returned after about 10 mins to take our order. right from the start of our meal to the final course the service was excellent and the food was piping hot and delicious.we were there around 2 hours 15 mins but the time flew by. we werent rushed and all the time people were eating and leaving and more people arriving. excellent food,,excellent service,,,id give it 10/10,,this was not our first visit and it wont be our last,,recomend it to anyone,,be it a meal for 2 or a table for 10,,,excellent!!!!

Absolutely fell in love with the place from the first time i had ever been, i know there maybe some better spots in and around Manchester, but for me Tai ~Wu does it!

I dine with my partner here on occasions while in Manchester on a night out, she always order's Chicken & Sweetcorn soup for 2, followed by her craving for their Chicken Chow Mein and crispy noodles, and my Salt & Pepper squid starter with Egg Fried rice, as i'm not the saucy kind of person.

After 00:00am its 20 or 30% off, on this occasion she had been out with her girl's and didn't want anything more to drink, I had a pint of lemonade and it all came to £18!

Bargain if you ask me!

Tai Wu has always been somewhere me and my friends and family go to hang out and eat. But i think the standards have gone down. There was a new young waiter who was very rude, ill mannered and his attitude was just not needed. i wanted to walk out but my friends told me to just leave it cos it was new years eve. still very angry!

Went for the Sunday dim sum. There is a REASON there are huge waits for this place on Sunday, and it simply that the food is dirt cheap. But it's not very good, and the service is beyond bad. I'll never go back. The New Hong Kong in China Town does 50% off their dim sum between (I think) mid-day and 5pm. At half off it's cheaper even than Tai Wu, and TWICE as good tasting, with actual service instead of NO service.

I would let the mugs have this place to themselves. YOU go to one of the places in town where the food is good, and you are well looked after. There are many such places, but Tai Wu, at least during their dim sum service, is most assuredly not one of them.

I have been to the Tai Wu buffet before and found the food quite nice although nothing spectacular. Yet when I went again last night the food was very very poor, it was lukewarm at best which is dangerous for rice and meat dishes, there was not much food as most of the trays were empty or half empty and we had to ask if there was any other dessert apart from ice cream. (they then brought out a small chocolate gateaux.) The drinks are ridiculously expensive - I was charged £3.20 for a half of lager and a lime and soda water, my friend who was with me works in a pub and said that normally you are not charged for soda water and in her pub a lime and soda is only 30p. I later found out that one of the other people we were with had questioned the price of the drinks and was told "oh I thought you said a wine and soda" yet when tasted the drink had been lime and soda, so obviously that barman knew and must of been pocketing the difference. We were not impressed at all and would warn any other diners to check the prices and also their change.

I love this place, if you think the buffet is good, go upstairs! I usually go after midnight (after a few drinks!) much better than a kebab and theres 30% off after 12. We usually have a banquet and leave with doggy bags and only spend about £7 each! Good service and excellent food! :)

I went to Tai Wu buffet restaurant on 44 Oxford Road in Manchester and I was charged £4.50 for my baby who is 2 yrs old. When we went to our seats I said to the waiter I do not need spoons for my baby as he will not eat anything she said that’s ok. A chair was not provided for my baby so he sat on my knees. We did not have a menu as it was a buffet meal. After the meal I went to pay and they added the extra charges to my bill. I ask what it was and they said whether my baby ate or not we have to pay for her also she took a bite out of her dad’s slice of cake. Is this legal? The food was good but they obviously watched over us because they say my baby take a bit out of her dads cake. Disgusted.

I love this place. I often go with a friend for lunch to the Buffet downstairs. £5.40 eat as much as you want in an hour and half. The food quality is fantastic. The waiters and waiteress are great don't hover over you but always ready to remove a dirty plate so you can go for more. I am pleased to say that I do not see plates left with loads of food on. The drinks are a little pricey but not over the top unless you buy the wine by the glass - £2.90 a glass - I don't buy wine in a pub so I am not sure if dear of not.

On the whole I would highly recommend this place and look forward to the days when I can get in at the resturant above.

I have eaten in nearly all chinese restaurants in manchester - this is by far the best food and fantastic value for money. You just need to know when to go and what to order.

Dim sum is half price every day between 12 and 4. If you go on a weekend at about 1 there can be up to 1 hour wait for a table. Just get a ticket and go to weatherspoons across the road.

Dim sum trolleys come around at weekends - but you can order off the menu.

Best to stick to dishes where you recognise the ingredients - if you don't you more than likely won't like it at all.

Price for 4 with wine and all we could eat was £40 - the wine was £12.
