Tung Fong

having been to many of the top Chinese Restaurants in Manchester City Centre, Rio Ferdinands Fave, Wings, being one of them, i can truefully say that NONE of them can beat Tung Fungs for Quality and Value for Money and unlike some comments, i have never had bad service. EXCELLENT

I lived in Manchester until moving to Canada 8 years ago and had been to the Tung Fong a number of times and my experience was, as many say below, the food is pretty good but the service was dreadful and unfriendly. I returned to Manchester on a business trip in May 2011 and gave it a try again and nothing has changed..food is still decent but the service and atmosphere is still terrible and seems even worse after having 8 years of good service in North America.

My wife, 6 year old Daughter and I went here on 5th April 2011 while staying at the nearby Marriott hotel.
I travel all over the UK with work and eat in many restaurants and I can say with 100% conviction that this is NOT the best Chinese in the UK, or Manchester.
The food is average, some dishes nice (peking duck) and and some not so good (rubbery prawns), but the real issue is the service and surroundings. The dining room is dingy, outdated and unappealling. Long overdue a refit. The service is impersonal to the point of rudeness. Both my wife and I felt unwelcome the moment we arrived.
I didn`t leave a tip, as I didn`t think the service was worth one. When I explained the reason for this to the cashier, he took an aggresive attitude and refused to accept my comments.

we had been recommended this place by a friend , and yes the food was excellent , we had the banquet for two and there was loads of choice and lots of dishes not enough room for pudding !!
i wouldnt say it was expensive for what we got ...
the menu must have hundreds of different choices ,
not the poshest of places , but the food couldnt have been better 10/10
parking is a nightmare , no real parking outside we had to park up the road and walk not good when its raining !! and in heels !!
but on the whole , lovely night ......

We went to Tung Fong for the first time a few months ago and although the service was bordering on unfriendly, the food was excellent. We went a second time, again the food was good but the service left a lot to be decided. Yesterday we took two friends who had not been there before, said don't worry about the abruptness of the staff as the food it good. I have to say never ever again. The staff proved to be the most ignorant, unhelpful and down right rude we have ever encountered. I cannot believe that it can go on - it was disgusting.
