we have been visiting Toto's for the last 7 years and have always enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Since the re-opening in March 2007 the quality of the food has got even better!
Yes they are extremely busy and sometimes you have to wait a while, but doesn't that show what a great restaurant it is? You can always go to a restaurant down the road with many empty tables, which will be no-where near the same eating experience (maybe that's why it's empty) the choice is yours!!
Without doubt the best restaurant in north Manchester......

We dine at Totos, as its now called, every couple of months, usually on a Sunday afternoon/evening. Booking is usually essential as its very busy at this time, but theres a bar where you can enjoy a drink whilst waiting, so waiting times pass fairly quickly!
We have pretty much worked our way through the menu during our visits, and the quality and variety of the food is excellent, and for a restaurant which such an upmarket feel, the prices are superbly reasonable.
Also, the wine list is very good, with plenty of variety, quality, and mainly Italian, as you would expect since this is an Italian restaurant.
Anyway, in all the times that we've been to Toto, we have only ever had one bad course. A dish of undercooked tortellini with dry and grainy spinach filling, which came back still undercooked after mentioning this to the waiter. Perhaps the filling contributed to the pasta feeling undercooked?
If I had to find fault, then I would say that they need to start offering 'specials', as the menu isnt seasonal, doesnt change, and once you've paid several visits over a few months, you do start to crave alternatives to the regulars. Also, the deserts are a little 'run of the mill' compared to some of the mains, witih nothing else above and beyond the regular tiramisus and profiteroles. However, the menu is vary varied, and you have all the regular fare such as pasta and pizza, in addition to more interesting fish, lamb shanks, steaks, and less 'stereotypically British' Italian dishes.
On the whole though, this is without a doubt the best Italian in Bury, and one of the best in the whole of Manchester. Check it out, as you wont be disappointed!

Excellent, excellent, excellent I can`t understand what people are talking about the food and service at Toto`s is second to none. We have never had any reason to complain and have always thoroughly enjoyed the experience of dining at Toto`s. The restaurant is a credit to the hard working general manager Davida, the excellent chef`s and waiters.

I dont know what people are talking about i go to totos about once every couple of months and i always have fantastic service waiters who cant do enough for you, fabulous food and a great atmosphere. I dont think it is too pricey the food is easily comparable with what you would get in manchester and similarly priced.

visited Toto's on a saturday night, was completely ignored and left for an hour and fifteen minutes before being seated by a rude waiter. Will not be visiting again.

I have been a regular customer at Toto for a number of years, however, my recent visit was most unsatisfactory. We booked a table for an early Sunday Evening, was left waiting for half hour and completely ignored by waiters before being seated at a table that was not properly set. The service was slow, the food was not spectacular (putting veal in the cannelloni and passing it off as beef!) and the manager was extremely rude and arrogant.

Having lived in the area and visited 'Toto' as it is now called, for over 10 years, the excellent food has never changed in taste or quality. There is an amazing depth to the menu, and for special occassions I have known friends come from as far as Liverpool to delight in the Bistro atmosphere. The waitors are extremely professional, and are a credit to the manager. The prices are expensive because it is such a special place to many. For the price you are treated like a VIP, and get to taste authentic italian cuisine.
