Lounge 10

I've recently had a course of chemotherapy, which has badly affected my sense of taste. Everything I cook tastes awful. If anyone out there is in the same position, may I recommend to you the set menu at Lounge 10? For £10 you can have two delicious courses and coffee, whilst adding a glass of wine and a dessert will bring the bill to £16. The set menu is now available from lunchtime to 7.00pm - ideal for a pre-theatre meal.
Why their food tastes so good I don't know. I wonder if I could take the chef home and get him to cook for me? The only three meals I have enjoyed in the last month have been at Lounge 10. Each time it has been soup and risotto (the fixed menu has no choice for vegetarians, sadly) but the flavours are different each week and they all taste wonderful!
Thank you, Mr. Chef, for making the last month that little bit better. And thank you to Lee, the waiter, who remembers any personal details you give him, but is never intrusive. Hope to visit again soon.

one of the worst meals out I've ever had in my life. The starters were fine though nothing special. The 3 steaks were all over cooked and tasteless, a few of us asked for subsitutes for the vegetables but were told nothing could be changed and we'd have to order side dishes, the seared fish was sushi. We complained and were told 'this is how food is cooked in restaurants', so chefs like their steaks completely well done do they? That's the first I've ever heard. The atmosphere was fine but the singer was far too loud, I couldn't hear the person next to me.
We were there for a birthday, myself coming up from London that afternoon, this had been booked weeks in advance and we'd been promised a special birthday plate for the person concerned. This never arrived and we were told staff were too busy for things like that. The melting chocolate pudding arrived as liquid, liquid chocolate and liquid icecream. Again we were told that this is how food is cooked in restaurants.
We didn't pay for the drinks or desserts but this was very grudgingly agreed. We left exactly the right amount of money, went to get our coats and were chased down the stairs by a waiter who thought we'd not paid.
Naturally, none of us would ever eat there again.

Been here twice this year and I have enjoyed each time. The food was good and the kitchen was great at accommodating slight changes for allergies instead of having to order something you don't really fancy. The service is very good. On the downside, it's way too cramped and the wine price is over the top. I like what they are trying to do but when you are paying £140 for two people I expect to take my time and enjoy the experience.
