your comments review this restaurant

I went to this restaurant on the strength of the other reviews and was expecting a good quality meal.

I was however severely disappointed. The starters we got, minestrone soup and spare ribs were average at best. The crowning glory was when the main courses which were Calzones. This was probably the worst I have ever had. Dry with very little sauce, which was practically water. Opening the inside revealed a mix of dried up pepperoni and virtually no cheese. When you open a calzone it is supposed to reveal plenty of melted mozzarella and juicy ham etc. Not some dried up bits.

On going to the toilet the reason for the poor quality became apparent. Only two cooks in the kitchen.

When I go to a restaurant proclaiming to be the oldest Italian restaurant in Manchester I would expect to have some Italian cooks.

So if you are looking for a restaurant to make to appreciate every other Italian that you have ever been to, then Leonis is the place to go.

I agree totally with the above review. This place is a little hidden gem! The service is friendly and efficient, there is a very pleasant atmosphere and the food is excellent. I can only echo the other reviewer's sentiments - ignore those over-priced chains and go to Leoni's!!

As a regular diner at Leonis, ever since it first opened over 25 years ago, I have no hesitation in recommending it. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The interior is intimate for a romantic meal or can cater for larger groups and the food is lovely. The occasional live Latin music is also a plus. Don't waste money on overpriced Pizza Express chains etc, enjoy the lovely fresh food at Leonis in a lovely setting served by friendly staff for a reasonable price.
